Vahdat Hall to host two concerts in August

TEHRAN, July 23 (MNA) -- The band “Sharqi” led by Saman Ehteshami is to be in concert at the Vahdat Hall for three evenings consecutively commencing on August 2.

 

The band will perform several pieces composed by the veteran musicians Mohammadreza Lotfi, Mohammadreza Shajarian, and Hossein Yusef-Zamani.

 

In addition, Jalal Zolfonun and his son Soheil are to give performances of a setar improvisation at the Vahdat Hall on August 1 and 2.

 

Sorush Qahremanlu (setar), Mehdi Nezamdust (daf and tombak), Babak Pirmoradi (setar), Hadi Montazeri (kamancheh), and vocalist Morteza Falahati will be accompanying Zolfonun and his son.

 

 

Yavaran band to perform at Niavaran Cultural Center

 

TEHRAN – The Yavaran music band is to give a concert at the Niavaran Cultural Center on July 24 and 25.

 

Daf player, Aqiqi, has announced that several pieces inspired by the poetry of Molana Rumi will be performed by the choir along with traditional music.

 

 

Iranian artists to hold painting exhibition in London

 

TEHRAN -- Iranian contemporary artists are to hold an exhibition of paintings in London opening on October 9.

 

Artists aged 25 to 42 will be putting their works on display for three weeks.

 

 

“Persian Carpet” doc to enter Venice Film Festival

 

TEHRAN -- The documentary “Persian Carpet”, which was produced by 15 filmmakers in collaboration and directed by Reza Mirkarimi, is scheduled to be screened at the 64th edition of the Venice Film Festival which will run from August 29 to September 8.

 

The documentary previously participated in the Cannes and Berlin Festivals.

 

 

“Zero Degree Orbit” to compete at MedFest

 

TEHRAN -- The Iranian documentary “Zero Degree Orbit” directed by Mahmud Rahmani is to compete in the Mediterranean Video Festival (MedFest) in September.

 

The festival is to be held at the archaeological site of Paestum in Italy.

 

“Zero Degree Orbit” describes the life of an Iraqi family, which resides near the Iran-Iraq border and the suffering its members experienced during the various wars which took place in their country.
